Proofing errors --------------- The only error I noticed was that in T-1, at the start of the second to last sentence "or" should be "for". Disagreement with proposals --------------------------- In the following spells I disagree with the proposed changes T-2 Resist Temperature : The expansion is too encompassing, and there is still little reason to rank it. I'd prefer to see a temperature range that Mind mages find comfortable, that increases with rank. T-3 Sense Danger : The 10 sec + 10/Rank is far too large, and will be extremely difficult to GM. I think 5 seconds warning is fine, but if an increase with rank is desirable, I'd suggest 5 seconds + 5 / 6 full ranks. The active concentration option should only affect the next 5 seconds. G-1 Control Animal : The title should stay Control Animal. The control should be slightly higher than that described. Controlling a fish or a bird, should still allow that entity to swim or fly. This is a form of mind control, not body control. G-2 Control Person : The title should stay Control Person. The targets skills should not be able to be used, apart from Weapon and Adventuring skills. These skills should only be able to be used at half of the targets rank (round down). The last sentence should be expanded a bit as it is not 100% clear. I think the resistance check should be Willpower based rather than Magic Resistance based (eg 50% + 5 x (target's WP - adept's WP)). The target should only be slowed if they want to be - if they do not fight the control, then the actions should be unhindered. G-6 Limited Precognition : I do not at all like this proposed "clarification". I would much rather see something like "The Adept may see up to 1 ( + 1 / Rank) hours into the future. At the time of casting the Adept specifies the time in the future that they wish to scry, and see 5 seconds of events that they may see through their own eyes at that time. The GM should base this on their knowledge of the adventure and their guess at the probable actions of the Adept and their companions. Death, unconsciousness, blindness or sleep will all show as simply blackness. G-7 Mind Cloak : Since an entity never has to participate in Mind Speech unless they want to, the last senence is meaningless. The last two sentences should be replaced with "Neither does it prevent the target from using Mind Speech as it is a deliberate communication rather than unauthorised invasion." S-5 Mind Speech : The newly introduced rank dependent abilities are at too low a rank. Adepts will generally get it to rank 6 pretty promptly anyway. Change these sentences to be "Up to Rank 10, a language in common is required for verbal communication. From Rank 10 visual images may be transmitted, and from Rank 15 audio, tactile, or olfactory sensations may be sent. At Rank 20, all senses may be transmitted simultaneously." S-9 Telekinetic Rage : The problem with the duration has not been addressed. Change the duration to be Immediate. S-10 Telepathy : The results of the Willpower check are not explained. Summary ------- Although most of the clarifications are good, they are little more than recording the way that most GMs play the current spells. I would rather see more of the Colleges problems addressed, principly the depowering of Telepathy. This spell has the ability to ruin adventures, and to take up far too much of the GMs time. I hope to be able to provide a more sweeping set of changes for your perusal in the near future.
