Headquarters ? >Try and gain followers whereever >?? politics ?? I take it you're referring to the Church of the One Horned God. If so, that was the one that Darian and Dalran converted to while off-plane on Savonla (Aqualina was on that adventure). This church is a rather hedonistic one and deals in the celebration of pleasure, usually through the act of coupling. I have no idea what the local law must think of the semi-pornographic literature that they put out from time to time. At the end of that adventure those two brought back a representative of the Chrurch, Roland and, a while later, a small temple was set up in Dedication Road, Old Seagate. The head of the church is currently Heronius. Mike Harre was the GM responsible and there was an article on the Church in Issue 11 of the Seagate Times. >4.3 Dianest ( sorry probably misspelled ) >Poor house orpanage ( wouldn't this also be provided by western kingdom >church ) >Gaining following in poor region of seagate but still small in >nationwide terms. >?? Keith politics ??? Diancecht. The worship of this deity is more common further north especially in places such as the Emerald Isles. It's a pasifistic religion teaching brotherhood to all sentient entities mainly through healing of said entities. The temples usually consist of hospitals connected to a place of worship. All of the priests must take a vow to seek out all who are sick or wounded and perform their work. Thus it is not uncommon for such priests to be following various armies in order to 'clean up the mess'. In Seagate, a small hospital/soup kitchen dedicated to Diencecht has been set up on the docks by Brother Phaeton. Anyone is welcome there and payment is by donation or by volunteering service. Since there is no Healers Guild in Seagate, an arrangement has been made with the Adventurer's Guild for the training of new converts although basic health classes are done at the temple. It's a very small church at the moment and prefers to stay neutral in any politics, only taking a stand where the health and safety of citizens is threatened. (I'm not sure what the relationship is with the four mainstream churches as I don't know enough about them however I suspect that all four are keeping an eye on this 'young upstart' ready to take action if it gets too powerful) The Duke tolerates the Church as 'a healthy peasent is a productive peasent' Keith (phaeton@ihug.co.nz) -- See message headers to unsubscribe from -- From owner-dq@dq.sf.org.nz Sat Oct 17 09:13:22 1998 Received: (from bin@localhost) by mail.sf.org.nz (8.8.6/NZSFI-19980830) id JAA31380; Sat, 17 Oct 1998 09:13:22 +1300 Received: from smtp1.ihug.co.nz (root@tk1.ihug.co.nz [203.29.160.13]) by mail.sf.org.nz (8.8.6/NZSFI-19980830) with ESMTP id JAA31371 ; Sat, 17 Oct 1998 09:13:21 +1300 Received: from homeserver (p17-max24.akl.ihug.co.nz [206.18.102.209]) by smtp1.ihug.co.nz (8.8.8/8.8.8) with SMTP id JAA25524 ; Sat, 17 Oct 1998 09:07:02 +1300 Message-ID: <007301bdf941$18695a70$0a64640a@homeserver.Home> Subject: Re: One spell wonders Date: Sat, 17 Oct 1998 09:11:00 +1300 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.72.3110.5 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V4.72.3110.3 From: "rodking" To: dq@dq.sf.org.nz Sender: owner-dq@dq.sf.org.nz Errors-To: owner-dq@dq.sf.org.nz Reply-To: "rodking" X-Loop: dq@dq.sf.org.nz X-Requests: To unsubscribe from this list, or change your subscription address, send a message to dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz. > Bart wrote: (et al) > Actually that's not relevant at all the only relevant issue is does >letting > characters develop one spell very quickly inhibit their and others > enjoyment of the game. My feeling is the answer to that is yes. How, when and where a player spend EP is a player choice, something that the player enjoys as it develops a character in the way they want. Its this individuality in selection of different EP spending criteria that helps make a game, adding as it does to the characters mix in the world and thus improving the game over all. It doesn't nmatter if you min/maxc; roleplay vs powerplay; become a one-shot wonder, a generalist or a specialist; what is important is the freedom to add different characters to a campaign and to differentiate yourself from the crowd. Any moves to restrict how a player spends EP is a matter of prejudice as to game type on the part of the suggestor. Variety be the spice of life. What are the main exports / imports of Cazarla Who are the duchy's trading rivals ?. Who do they trade with ? If the population of Cazarla is less that sufficient to provide food for Seagate, given that it is a trading city and would need a 20:1 peasant to townsman ratio to maintain ( Am I correct in assuming this ? ) and gm's don't want cazarla to be densly populated. The imports would be food, what would the exports be ( lumber ?, iron ?, gold ? ). Any city or group which also provides these goods demise would be less wept than the loss of those who purchase our goods. Interesting situations may well develop such as Cazarla providing the wood for Destiny's fleets even though we don't like each other politically, trade must continue... Where are these mines / lumber mills etc -- endangerment of them could be an important plot device.
