I have a suspicion that you are at cross purposes here. I think Mandos is talking about the 'If you have 94-96 stat points then you may not start with a stat higher than 19..." whereas Adam is talking about the "You may increase a stat by at most 5 points, but not beyond racial max". Reply-To: dq@dq.sf.org.nz The major changes was to allow people to choose character attributes (like race, social status, etc) within limits. Everything else was just "tidying" or "fiddling". It was done by a workshop of 5 people over a year, with several publications of working documents onto this discussion list. It was then put on an agenda, discussed for a couple of meetings and then voted in Qtr 2 1998. If you and the other GMs didn't like the rules (and thats fine) PLEASE COULD YOU HAVE (1) turned up to some of the workshops; or (2) SAID SOMETHING WHEN WE POSTED IT. BTW, background used to affect up to 1,000ep, but was random, screwing character concepts. You can now choose based on your concept, so it makes no ep difference & is role-playable. It depends which you think is more important over the life of a character.
