Reply-To: dq@dq.sf.org.nz Minutes of the DQ Gods Meeting September 5th 1999 Present: William, Scott, Jacqui, Jason, Michael Parkinson, Jono, Mike Young, Rosemary, Andrew, Keith, Terry. (Note: Voting order is Pass/Abstain/Fail) Adventures going out Andrew - Low on plane. Employee wants assassin stopped Mike Y - High. Dragon bash Jim - High Jono - Medium plus. Rescue and recovery Mike P - Medium Jason - Low overflow if required William - Medium Rule discussions 1) Languages The players guide will contain a list of learnable languages at the Guild. It was generally agreed to adopt the document as written although there was discussion on whether or not a master work is required to advance in the higher ranks as per other skills. An amendment was proposed to remove that paragraph. Passed [5/2/3]. The amended document was then voted in [9/1/0] Other changes were required. a) Celestial Speak to Creatures of Light/Dark is changed to be the equivalent of a language skill of 1+1/5 ranks. [10/0/0]. b) Bards no longer rank languages in half the time. [7/3/0]. c) Philosopher benefits have been reduced. Provided that the rank of the language being learnt is not greater than the philosopher rank, philosophers may learn to speak the language or to read an orthographic language at 10%. But if the philosopher has chosen the field of Linguistics the discount is 20%, increasing to 30% if the philosopher has chosen the appropriate language sub-field. [9/1/0] d) The Namer language bonus has also been changed to fit. It now reads "This familiarity with Names allows Namers to Rank any language in the Protonic Language Group as if they know a language in that group at Rank 5". [9/0/0]. 2) Fire College A new version was tabled and it was agreed that the document was sound but required editing before releasing. Jason offered to do this. 3) Witchsight The original proposal had been written up in rules format. It was agreed that the reference to 'blue glow' should be 'blue sheen'. It was also pointed out that this now means that elves can perceive invisible entities/objects automatically and that it removes the ability to run mystery games using invisibility as a basis. The proposal now reads: "Experience Multiple: 200. Base Chance: Automatic. Effect: The Adept may see objects or entities which are invisible and a slight blue sheen around them. If the invisibility effect (excluding Walking Unseen) is of a higher rank than the Witchsight, the object or entity may not be clearly identified or directly magically targeted. The Adept may also see in the dark as a Human does on a cloudy day, with an effective range of vision of 150 feet under the open sky, and 75 feet elsewhere." Passed [8/3/0] The name of E&E Witchsight was changed to Wizard Sight [7/3/0]. 4) Illusionary Animal The sentence "The animal has a PS, AG, and PC equal to Rank+5 and a TMR of Rank/2" is now replaced with "The animal has the minimum PS, MD, AG, TMR and PC for the selected creature." Passed [9/1/1] 5) Bardic Speaking Beasts As with the Celestial Talent, the bestowed language rank is 1+1/5 ranks. Passed [9/2/0]. 6) Mind College Jacqui hopes to have the revised Mind College ready by the next Gods Meeting. Campaign Discussions 1) Format of Guild Meetings Jono proposed that a new section be added to the meetings. This is to be dedicated to feedback from adventures and either the party leader or the party scribe is to give a very short precis of the adventure, concentrating on the results. Also someone is to give a short summary of the current political/economic situation. This is to happen before the adventures are announced. 2) General Happenings William reminded the meeting that, last year, a treaty had been established with the Calimar in which they won't attack Alusia for a hundred years. In return we'd leave them alone. However it would be entirely possible to encounter Calimar adventuring parties. Dr Frank-n-stein is retiring from MMHS and was looking at Seagate as a possible new home. He is a rather "unorthodox" Rank 10 Healer/Alchemist. There are a lot of paranoid church knights around. They're looking for either Lord Azure or Count Karrinsky. There had been a harsh winter but it looks like it is going to be a bountiful spring. -- see unsubscribe instructions in message headers --
