It depends on how you view spells in combat. I view them as fire support for the fighters which gives the non-mages or fighter mages more of a role. Rather than the fighters simply being a way to stop the enemy getting to the mages. It depends on your view of things I guess and I try to downplay the influence of magic in combat. Magic is nice but I do think it is overrated in DQ and other aspects deserve to get a look in as well. I guess it all depends on style and I can easily do without the half damage spells. This position is not an argument. As far as I can see, the only thing George is bringing to the discussion is that he doesn't see the need to use half damage spells or effects. This particular line doesn't lead the discussion anywhere except into paroxysms of adulation for his wonderful DMing.
