Obviously you believe some people have far too much spare time on their hands. Or little else to do with it other than play DQ. I have three characters, one on adventure, and the other two presumably actively involved in the defence of Seagate and of Carzala. Now, I simply do not have time to play DQ three times a week (I have a full-time job, a house, a husband and a baby to look after, and am involved in other role-playing campaigns besides DQ. In other words, I have a life.) I assume that many other players are in this position. What I think people are looking for is a mechanism to handle the defence of Seagate and allied issues in character, without role-playing it all full time. One possibility is to run it by email. Which the evidence suggests may be workable. But it needs a GM to be prepared to adjudicate it. It's also worthwhile noting that we have only one official mechanism for organising games - the Guild meeting. Which seemed rather underutilised in this instance. When were the games advertised for the defence of Carzala? If your life is important, get on with it. The effects of what is happening in the game somewhere are unimportant. I've already mentioned this elsewhere. DQ is only a game, other things have different orders of precedence. >I have three characters, one on adventure, and the other two presumably >actively involved in the defence of Seagate and of Carzala. You cannot, at the same time, make that choice and expect other people to dance attendance on you. You cannot have your cake and eat it. > >What I think people are looking for is a mechanism to handle the defence of >Seagate and allied issues in character, without role-playing it all full >time. > Then, let them find a game in which to do it. It doesn't need anything other than that. As much as they may want to involve themselves at some level, the proper place to do the things is inside a game, unless you speak to the people who are organising it, themselves. >One possibility is to run it by email. Which seemed rather underutilised in >this instance. When were the games advertised for the defence of Carzala? > And, it's fine. There doesn't need to be anything else. The only thing this game device was ever intended to do was to provide for interesting roleplaying games. It was not the intention to evoke a play by email response. It may be that such a response is fine. It may be that the people who are running this thing just don't want to be bothered. In which case, an email response is going to be a complete waste of time. Possibly the first thing that ought to be done is to see if Jono and Mike are keen on doing this. If they aren't, they may be able to suggest an alternative. If they can't, then I believe that that is, basically, the end of the issue, however much your characters might enjoy being involved. That's just tough. So is not being able to find an adventure suitable for your character. This happens fairly regularly. Not commonly, but often. Jim. -- see unsubscribe instructions in message headers --
