Reply-To: dq@dq.sf.org.nz Minutes from the DQ Gods Meeting May 7th 2000 Present: Scott, Jason, Ian, Michael Parkinson, Stephen, Andrew, Keith, Jono Note: A quorum was not achieved so no voting could be done. However, several rulebook items were clarified and other matters discussed. 1) The Campaign Committee is planning to publish a newsletter sometime next week. Anyone with information for them should get in sent in soon. 2) The base conception rates are to be added to Character Generation, specifically to the list of attributes for each race. The note that the roll is to be only made once every 48 hours is to go in the description for that attribute in the races section. 3) Greater Summoner is to stay in the rulebook. However the following is to be added near the top (where the probation clause would go) "This College is a non-player College. PCs may not learn it, transfer to it, or learn any of the talents, spells, or rituals of this College, apart from the Counterspells." 4) A table of MA requirements of each College, sorted by MA, is to be added to the mage section of Character Generation. 5) Rewards for scribe notes. The following was proposed. That each voucher is awarded by the Librarian who provides the Library with a precis of the adventure. The voucher doesn't include cash but entitles the bearer to one free resurrection at the Guild or 1000sp of Guild Services. The precis should include the background, clues to the weaknesses of the enemy and what is happening in that part of the world. The scribe doesn't get a separate EP award but the GM includes awards in the EP to those players who help the GM such as keeping track of combat, taking notes etc. Once the precis is lodged by the GM the Librarian awards the GM 1000EP for the precis. 6) A question was raised about the maximum rank of Common. The Common language is basically a campaign mechanism to avoid language problems both on and off plane. It should be at least Rank 8 as it can be used for magic but doesn't have the same level of complexity as other native languages e.g. elvish. Higher ranks in a language allow for more accurate interpretations on what is said. Common is now rank 9 max. Anyone who has Rank 10 can re-spend the EP and time into something else. 7) The duration of potions of talents should be rank of the talent hours, not alchemist rank hours. 8) The language name for Drakenburgh is actually spelt correctly. 9) Jono asked a question about a specific magic item and received some suggestions on how to deal with it. 10) Should trollskin have a maximum negative endurance it can cope with, for example, someone slamming into a cliff at high speed. It was suggested that, for every multiple of their original EN that they take in damage, that they should incur a Spec Grev, as trollskins do not cure Spec Grev damage. 11) It was noted that poisons, as currently written, don't work on characters with Strength of Stone on Endurance as their EN becomes so high that they can ignore the effects. The use of more virulent and special poisons was suggested. 12) Should we have rules and guidelines for social interactions (the cut and thrust of diplomacy). Information of reputations and favours could be added. Jono to work on a proposal. 13) There seemed to be an inconsistency on casting in horsemanship and flying. The flying skill is to be clarified to be the same as horsemanship and the fire action in horsemanship is to be clarified to fire or cast.
