Reply-To: eamon@crosswinds.net Hey there, I'm a little confused why people feel that rampant cantrip abuse has infected the Guild? >>Cantrips are rather weak, which I believe is the point. Still =A0would have thought some utility stuff should be achievable, for higher fatigue costs. Perhaps you could describe these as the standard or basic Cantrips. This would allow some small magics to be awarded as treasure, without major new spells being introduced. I am aware of several PCs who have cantrips which are more powerful than those described. I would try to include these possibilities. >I completely disagree. =A0The whole complaint about cantrips is that they are too strong for freebees that don't require EP. =A0What those players have is special spells. I truely felt that the cantrips as minor convienient spells that allow the player to evoke the role playing joy of being a powerfull mage was one of the best parts of D.Q. That the 1st write up I read was open ended and flexable was inspired and exciting. I run almost exclusively low power thinking games and the cantrips have only EVER been used in my experience in a totally approprite way. That a character could make their eyes glow to enhance their reputation, or skin change colour briefly etc was magnificent and added vital depth to several characters. IF I come across someone who has the wrong idea of the usefullness of a cantrip then it is the easiest thing in the world to explane it to them and I don't understand how a G.M. could get cantrips so wrong that they need a tightly confined re-write. -Patch. -- to unsubscribe see http://www.kurahaupo.gen.nz/mailing-lists.html --
