Yes, it isn't great, but that's what it costs. I suppose you could offer
what the market will bear.

Free, I suppose. How much do you think it will cost to keep this beast
fed?

30 pounds of grass plus 8 pounds each of fresh produce and grains, a day and
a whole lot of water.
Including fencing and staff, say 5,000sp a year?

I would have said 1,000 sp a year is fine. After all, the fencing is
only to appease any peasants that might see it. None of them are going
to try and steal it, and there isn't really a fence that's going to stop
it from wandering off and eating what it likes. And, I'd like to know
what kind of staff would be brave enough to make it behave, too.

Ultimately, this beast is only going to be useful to an adventurer who
can convince the monster to stay nearby and not step any natives. Once
lumbered with it, then they're going to have to sustain its prodigious
appetite, and put up with it's overwhelming stench.

Any sensible owner might set up a fund to pay off dissaffected peasants
that live nearby.

Ian W just pointed out that the rhino horn is probably worth something
(Darien is keen if it increases the chance of conception).
Is it like deer horns & velvet, and grows back each year?

There are much easier ways of increasing conception chances. Go talk to some
of the nice ladies at Slippery Rock.

I'm pretty sure the real world answer is 'no'. Given that this is a
regenerating rhino, who knows? Perhaps the horn turns into a little rhino and
gallops off to join up with the rest of it.

Is the Rhino able to be trained as a mount for use in combat and how
effective is it in combat - these are the things that the guild will judge
its value on. As for maintenance, perhaps an upfront cost in bribes, land
purchase/lease, token fencing etc and then an on-going annual fee (1,000sp
seems a bit low and 5,000 a bit high).

As for the crystal...
According to a Guild Guide that I have with me the guild charges this for
purchasing crystals from them:
Price: 1000sp /rank plus 500sp to 2,000sp for the crystal

The cost to perform the ritual is 1,000sp plus the cost of the crystal.

Value it between 2,000sp and 20,000sp (+500 to 2,000sp based on it's size
and quality). Where in that range depends on how much money you want to
give out or how fascist the guild valuer is feeling.

Cheers, Stephen.

Just to point out that we've received very little in the way of articles
for the Seagate Times, and since I have no intention of writing the entire
issue myself, there won't BE a Seagate Times, unless some peoples gets
theirs As into Gs and sends us some stuff.

Fair enough?
