There has recently been much confusion over the number and timing of attempts to recover from Stun. This was discussed immediately prior to the Guild meeting, and the following decision made:
\par \ldblquote Minutes from the Guild Meeting\line 1st Fruit 801 WK\line \line 0) Rule clarification - Stun recovery\line Recovery from stun occurs as an action in each pulse. There is an extra \line recovery at the end of the first pulse of stun.\rdblquote
\line
\par Attached is what I believe is the best way to implement this in the rulebook. I have made the \ldblquote extra\rdblquote
recovery conditional on the figure being stunned after their Action, as this is what I understood to have been agreed, and it is easier to remove the condition than to add it later.
\par An INCREASE IN ACCESSIBILITY of the rules on stunning is achieved by expanding the bit on stunning in }{\b Damage.}{ ALL IMPACTS of being stunned ARE now LISTED I
N ONE PLACE , so that new players, and the simply confused, may refer to one section. For completeness, the rules also remain in the other appropriate sections (IE I am not proposing to remove references to stun, as that would make the rules harder to app
ly).

The attached document is a Word version of the Combat Section. The basis of this document is NOT the current rulebook, although it is very close. Proposed changes to the current rulebook are indicated using Word\rquote s change tracking f

It is }{not}{\fs24 intended that the entire combat section be replaced by the attached, due to editorial inconsistencies (there are enough of them that I am not dedicating my life to this).}{
\par }\pard\plain \s2\sb240\sa60\keepn\nowidctlpar\widctlpar\outlinelevel1\adjustright \b\i\f1\lang5129\cgrid {Overall Approach
\par }\pard\plain \sb120\nowidctlpar\widctlpar\adjustright \lang5129\cgrid {
The approach taken was to specify the impact of a stunned figure at each stage of the combat sequence, rather than letting the reader make assumptions or forcing them to make deductions. Where a ch
oice had to be made, playability and readability were preferred, whilst maintaining the current rules. Sometimes the results \lquote don\rquote t feel quite right\rquote , but as stunning isn\rquote t exactly a well known \lquote real world\rquote
effect, I feel it is the best approach.
\par I note that GMs often make minor adjustments in currently vague areas, and no-one generally minds, so long as they are internally consistent, and/or make for better role-playing.
\par For example, if a GM wants to have a more detailed approach to Initiative and Defence
calculation (e.g. it seems reasonable that a just-come-out-of-stun figure has more defence than that figure while they were stunned, but less than what it will be once they start a normal Action), there will be a impact on ease of play. Therefore it woul
d
be the responsibility of any GM who plays the combat rules differently from the rulebook to address the impact of stunned figures within their modified system. For example, any optional Initiative system needs to state where in the Pulse stun recovery at
tempts occur.
