Minutes from the June Gods Meeting.

Present: Errol, Andrew, Clare, Keith, Ian.

Once again a quorum was not achieved, which has occurred for the past year.
This can either mean that most people think the current ruleset doesn't
need fixing or that there is general apathy among us. There is now a strong
possibility that monthly Gods Meetings will be abandoned and instead, there
will be a pre Guild meeting to handle anything that needs to be voted on.

The following matters below were discussed.

1) Adventures going out.
Sally - Low
Clare - Low
Jon - Medium
Rosemary or Andrew - a possibility
Keith - low/medium probably an overflow if required.

The Secretary is to contact Stephen to confirm the booking of the Hall for
next Sunday's Guild Meeting.

2) Revised Namer College
The new DA document was discussed and it was felt that there should be more
options for values, especially for magical results as spell effects come in
quanta. Answers should reflect this. Also players are used to having
answers in absolutes but percentages could be used instead. It is unlikely
to get historical information out of an aura. The other suggestion was that
it could be possible to compare a result with the caster's own aura such as
comparing MA's.

The rest of the Namer College was discussed and it was generally felt to be
excellent. The suggestion was made that a spell, similar to Disjunction, be
added to suppress currently running magics.

True Seeing was thought to be 'too wimpy'. Plus it was felt that spell
effects should be based on absolute ranks and illusions on entities get
resistance checks. Above/below checks giving two results was suggested as
well as a three level effect i.e. Rank TS <= Rank Illusion, Rank TS > Rank
Illusion and Rank TS <=10 and Rank TS > Rank Illusion and Rank TS.

3) Revised Mind College
Each part of the College was gone though and the reasons behind changes
were explained. Some changes were suggested i.e. that multiple casts of
Mind Speech have the areas of effects merge if the principle targets are
close enough and that the range could 'jump' at high ranks, from 30 + 30 to
100 + 100 at Rank 10 for example.

The second resistance check in Control Person should allow the target to
break out of the spell (as with E&E Charm).

here are my recollections of yesterday's discussion on Mind college...as
they differ from Keith's notes:

1. the clarifications for Mind were generally accepted
2. the changes to the broken spells were accepted as reasonable
3. the working range for mind speech received attention, with the 30 feet
+30 accepted, although the need for a clarification (to cover multiple casts
with common members) was noted - suggested wording to come from me - this
should enable multiple casts to effectively increase the range of the spell,
but only if members co-operate (it also caters for most arguements for
increasing the working range of the spell).
4. the clarification was considered to be a major improvement on the
current writeup of the college, and would encourage PCs to learn the special
knowledge spells, and for GMs to allow their effects to occur!!
5. 3 or 4 improvements were suggested - mostly to specify how a spell
works in a given instance. write ups to come from me for circulation prior
to Guild meeting...

cheers Ian

PS - any proposal to suspend the monthly gods meetings for several years
will get my vote. I pity anyone championing improvements/changes but somehow
we have to improve the way we discuss proposed changes (and this elist does
not appear to be an improvement <g> ).
