General Conversion Guidelines...
1) If a magical ability (talent/spell/ritual) has not significantly changed
then your rank in that magical ability is conserved.
2) If a magical ability has significantly changed or has been removed then
it should be explicitly identified with a recommended conversion method.
E.g. Transfer rank in spell X to same rank in new spell Y.
3) Experience, time, and money should be conserved.
4) Exceptions to any of the above must be approved on a case by case basis
by an impartial GM.

Most of the time this isn't a big issue as most people are reasonable and
the conversion is signed off by a GM. But it is worth having these
guidelines and specific conversion documents to make the whole process easy
for players and GMs.

I assume that there will be a new Mind conversion document following on from
Fridays discussion, I look forward to seeing it.

Cheers, Stephen.

hi there, I am still unsure of teh problem here. MolRec was considered a
'loose' spell - probably still is. Purification is hardly a problem.

If one person wishes to cash in on a change, then that is what works for
them, and legislating against such ruleslawyering will hardly matter.

the idea was to allow a player to change some of the ep spend in case they
were unhappy with a rewrite. Teh 25 % limit was because I recognise that
some will take it as a chance to totally adjust their character...without
regard to historical needs (IE what they needed 5 years ago).

I am quite happy for there to be no conversion, just change spell names,
stats etc. But some may feel this is bad.

So what are people's proposals for a conversion document?

I am happy to wait until an acceptable one is posted to the list.

Cheers Ian

While I see nothing wrong with the 2 conversion docs presented I feel there
needs to be an option for a player to change college with a full refund of ep &
time if they feel it has changed so much that they would not have taken it in
it's current form.

As an example I cuurentley play a Fire Mage - Rothgar who would not have taken
the current college. It has changed significantly from what it was originally.

I feel this should be a standard feature of any significant change to a
college.
