hi there all,
I am enjoying the discussion - we need to get this one right so that we are
all play-testing the same rules !
it would be a very negative step (IMHO) for some people to play 'house'
rules. In fact it would be very selfish, for they are denying others their
positive input (IE comments made is such a way that others may bother to
read them).
my tuppence ha'p'ny would be:
I am (conditionally) against the use of stealth rules as part of a spell. I
hated lying flat in the grass only to have one barbarian spot and spit IE -
what do you have to do to get this spell to work as intended???
I would prefer the spell to act on the target's intentions, rather than
skills or the environment.
In other words, perhaps we could suspend the spell's effects when the target
is doing other than stealthing (nominated entities do not count for this (ie
the target can converse with a nominated entity without loosing their
undetectability from the guard). This means that walking across the
courtyard may be ok, opening a door would not, waving hands in front of
guard is not, preparing spell (unless through nifty talent) etc. [note this
would require removing the bit about modifying the nearby environment - ok]
[sob, it was one of my favourite parts].
I think Jim has the right of it, it all comes down to flavour and the
story - stuff the mechanics = what do we wish to experience.
cheers Ian
PS - please be very careful about how much you down power the spell ( and
consequently alter the EM) - it is currently quite high and I would like as
much EP back as possible for Isilfluff...ian <g>
