Subject[dq-announce] Moderation of DQ list
FromKeith Smith
DateMon, 24 Mar 2003 00:03:23 +1200
Owing to the increasing amount of spam on the dq list. I have attempted to
restrict just who can post to it. Currently this is set up that only those
on the dq list can post. The mechanism also allows blocking of anyone on
the list if it becomes necessary. This is done with the use of .allow and
.deny files on the mail server.

This also means that if you wish to post, you MUST use the e-mail address
that you're registered with. If you're unsure, please e-mail me.

This applies ONLY to the dq list. The dq-announce and dq-pub lists have not
been altered.

Any questions or comments, please e-mail me.

Keith
DQ list administrator.

Subject[dq] Ranking Shields and Warrior
FromStruan\ Judd

Just noiced a rule inconsistency.

In Combat, it states that you get defence for a shield equal to the defence
bonus for the Shield type times your Rank with the Shield Skill plus 1. It
says approximately that anyway. Thus I would assume you rank Shield just the
once.

But in Warrior, there are 5 shields listed in their own category, which
seems to imply that perhaps you do have to rank Shield for each Shield type.

I've always ranked as the former, but now I'm not sure. How do other people
read this?

Note this:

"49.3 Weapon categories
Note: These definitions only apply to
the warrior skill, not combat in general."

That said, there doesn't seem to be anything explicitly explaining the 'EP
expenditure on Shield lets you use all of the non-Main Gauche shields' (56.2
manages to avoid being clear).

Anything else I've missed?

Cheers
Errol

3.10 - sub section Defence.

A prepared shield provides defence against all Melee and Ranged attacks that
pass through a figure's front hexes, if they have the Shield skill.

As opposed to "that shield skill."

That's the exact phrase that makes me think of only one Shield Skill.
