It certainly better than what we've got.

One issue is that the benefit/penalty is a fair way down the track. I can't
think of an elegant way to 'fix' this. One approach would be to have
different EP costs to increase stats for the different starting totals, but
that's quite messy. Anyway, here's a table of averages for Stephen's
numbers.

Start	Start	Max
Total	Ave	Ave
82	13.7	20.7
86	14.3	20.3
90	15.0	20.0
94	15.7	19.7
98	16.3	19.3

I'll add 2 columns to this...

> Anyway, here's a table of averages for Stephen's numbers.
>
Start	Start	Max Max At XP
Total	Ave	Ave Total Cost
82	13.7	20.7 124 195,000
86	14.3	20.3 122 167,500
90	15.0	20.0 120 140,000
94	15.7	19.7 118 112,500
98	16.3	19.3 116 85,000

Looking at it like this, it doesn't seem to be enough of a balancing factor.

How about this:

Start	Max Start	Max Max At XP
Total	Raise Ave	Ave Total Cost
82	9 13.7	22.7 136 250,000
86	7 14.3	21.3 128 195,000
90	5 15.0	20.0 120 140,000
94	3 15.7	18.7 112 85,000
98	1 16.3	17.3 104 30,000

A lot more extreme but there are more definite benefits and disadvantages.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Because I know that many of the members of both these lists are avid
boardgamers too.
