No.
And, well, no.
This is a bad idea. What does it add to the game?
No, and suggest the immediate termination of anyone suggesting such
abominations. This is a roleplaying game. True, it has its roots in the ancient
wargames of yesteryear but the focus is still on character development. DQ PCs
catch up pretty quick and can quest for extra adds as needed. Removing this
impetus from the game can only be a bad thing.

Can I say...I hate the original proposal, and I hate this second
proposal even more. I am much too busy to play at the moment, but am
seriously considering taking some time out to come to the gods meeting
to vote against both.

My characters were designed with the +5 increase in stats in mind, and
I don't think that's actually against the rules, however "pure" a
"roleplayer" you are.

I have at least one character who I would likely stop playing
altogether if this proposal came in. She will never get another stat
increase, will never be able to use the weapon combination I have in
mind for her. Quest for it I hear you say. She has enough things she's
questing for as it is (stat increases among them).

I think this rule change will drive existing players away from the
game, and I don't think you want to do that lightly.

cheers,

clare

I acually agree with William, even though I put this forward....

And as Clare pointed out most characters out there are designed with the
+5 in mind.

Both my characters would never be able to reach what I have/had in mind
for them in the
Proposal comes in.

As this is a roleplaying game, then roleplaying through your
disadvantages for a roll of the dice is as much as roleplaying as
anything else.

Most of the disadvantages of having a dice role have already been
removed so if you don't what to play with low numbers just choose to
take the standard 15 for each stat (90 points) and work from there

To avoid anyone feeling disapointed or left out cos they got a few less stat
points that someone else it has been decreed that all stat points are hereby
revoked. Thats right you don't get to have any.

Now everone has the same stat values across the board, we are all equal and
don't have to worry about raising them at all. After all the adding and
subtracking and other things you have to do to rank things is horribly
complicated and some people cannot keep track of things and so are missing
out.

Making things simpler does not mean they are better, and mucking around with
things that do not need to be mucked around with is pointless.

For the people who feel that life isn't fair unless everyone has the same
stats we have the ability to chose 91 points. For those who are grown up
enough to deal with the possibility that they might have smaller numbers
pencilled in on their peice of paper we have the random method.

And if you are a whiney bastard with no life and bugger all stats you can
find a friendly GM to change them arbitrarily into whatever you damn well
want.
