Quest level should be awarded based on the difficulty of the quest. This includes the the amount and type of infomation required, the competance (or lack) of the political opposition and what all the locals will do to help or hinder. After all, there is often little help a very high level party can easily get (that is measurably helpful) compared to what even the resources of a well-to-do village can do to augment bunnies on a comparitive basis. William ----- Original Message Follows ----- From: dawnhaven@xtra.co.nz [mailto:dawnhaven@xtra.co.nz] Sent: Wednesday, 15 October 2003 6:26 p.m. You are absolutely correct Stephen. IIRC the original intent was to enable higher level PCs to progress at a reasonable rate. We were, at the time, discussing a standard stucture for EP awards and had the following categories for each evening (4 hours) of roleplay: 0-500 for turning up on time, prepared etc 0-500 for your roleplaying 0-500 for your contribution These were felt to be good, and it was so. BUT what works for a begining level PC would stultify a high level. So an extra award was designed, cunningly hidden in the term Level, but really it was an experience bonus to enable mid to high level characters to maintain a reasonable rate of growth. Therefore it is my understanding that a standard Level Award per evening is required, based on the level of characters the GM feels is appropriate for the adventure. Others obviously have an alternate view, and i am interested in learning how they achieve the intent stated above. Anyway, ask Rosemary, as i seem to recall Level Awards was her brilliant idea (and no this is not meant as a hospital pass). regards, Ian -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |
