Ten rumours heard around Seagate in the wake of Michaelmas. 1) "King Ulric actually died in the attacks, but they don't want to tell anyone or the Kingdom will fall apart. The one they've got now is a double of some sort". 2) "The Marquessa is the new regent, which means is the elves that are really running the show". 3) "Assassins also tried for the Archbishop -- he was back in Mordeaux for the services -- but something weird happened and they all got fried". 4) "The new Duke... I mean 'Herzog' Albrecht has imprisoned his half-brother the King in some mountain fortress". 5) "Those Assassins weren't Rashak's... they were employed by Albrecht to kill his father and the King". 6) "The King has fled to Bowcourt to get away from Albrecht". 7) "Guild members were involved in the assassination". 8a) "That Aquilan 'Feldmarschall' is the new Duke of Aquila". 8b) "Nah, he's just got the same first name -- but he did get secret orders to start rounding up supporters of the old Duke". 8c) "No, no, supporters of the King. I have a friend in the camp, and she swears that's the truth". 9) "The Duke of Aladar is planning to secede from the Western Kingdom. There's going to be another war!" 10) "The war will be over by Michaelmas... err... Yuletide". -- Martin Dickson ph: +64 9 3730400 x5115 User Experience Engineer fax: +64 9 3730401 Strategy, Research & Architecture email: martin.dickson@peace.com Peace Software http://www.peace.com -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-pub-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |

Ah yes, but the standard rumour would be that: Guild members were hired to protect Duke Frederick; his death and the destruction of the cathedral were entirely accidental. -- Martin Dickson ph: +64 9 3730400 x5115 User Experience Engineer fax: +64 9 3730401 Strategy, Research & Architecture email: martin.dickson@peace.com Peace Software http://www.peace.com -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-pub-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |

I thought the guild party was hired to serve snacks after the church function but they couldn't decide who was going to be the waiter. So the party necro summoned some undead to carry the trays, backfired, and uncontrolled undead started killing people. The warrior assumed the party was being attacked and started killing people too. The E&E quickened the undead to give them a sporting chance. The Fire mage saw undead and dragonflamed everyone. The Mind mage (diplomat) took the opportunity to fulfill a side contract and then helped the Illusionist who was desperately casting disguises and other illusions to make sure blame for the whole thing fell on Rashak instead of on the party. Meanwhile the Rune mage started establishing the rune portal for a quick exit.
