Not a public announcement as such, but any PCs with interests in Foxcourt, or in the wider Bowcourt area (or even just those with their fingers on the pulse of politics in the Western Kindgom) will learn of the following proclamation, most probably a few weeks after the start of Winter. The proclamation, issued by Her Radiance, Dulciena, Marquessa de Bowcourt, at Winter court on Samhain, refers to the current state of affairs in Foxcourt (as mentioned in the Seagate Times) following Count Richard "Tricky Dicky" Foxcourt's trial in absentia for sedition, subsequent exile upon pain of death, and attainting of his family. -- The County of Foxcourt, being an ancient part of the March of Bowcourt, and under Our protection and guidance has fallen vacant. We regard this matter most seriously, and while it is that We carefully consider the manner this may be remedied, and weigh the virtues of those noble persons who may be fitted to the office, We do continue to look to Our cousin William Fortbrass as Our Lord Lieutenant of Foxcourt, acting in Our name for all issues and matters within that land. However, desirous of ensuring that the Barons of Newcourt and Faircourt are well supported in their feudal duties, and not wishing to place undue stresses upon Our Lord Lieutenant of Foxcourt, We do hereby request and require that Hugh D'Amberville, and Sebastien Malvallet, being those Barons so named, should attend, at their earliest convenience, upon Us at court in Bowcourt, and that as the obligations of their oaths of fealty to Richard Foxcourt have been made void by his attainder, that they should swear again these oaths unto Us directly, placing them under Our grace and protection as Our immediate vassals. Furthermore, We grant Justine d'Amberville, heiress of Newcourt and Henri de Malvallet, heir of Faircourt the right to marry, provided that such marriage agreement requires that the ancient and unarguable rights and traditions of inheritance in Newcourt and Faircourt are both equally honoured and observed, to wit: that the fief of Newcourt shall pass to the first daughter of such a union, while the fief of Faircourt passes to the first son. By Seal this Day, On the Festival of Samhain, 805 by the Western Reckoning, Being the Year 1313 of the March, Dulciena, Marquessa de Bowcourt. -- Martin Dickson ph: +64 9 3730400 x5115 User Experience Engineer fax: +64 9 3730401 Strategy, Research & Architecture email: martin.dickson@peace.com Peace Software http://www.peace.com -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-pub-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |

For those PCs who are interested in following up on events in Foxcourt, some additional information: The Marquessa's Lord Lieutenant, William Fortbrass, is a cousin of the Marquessa (or a 2nd cousin, once or twice removed... it all gets a bit confusing as noble family trees do), and believed to be loyal, upright, and honest. He is in his mid-50's, and a rather colourless fellow (reports claim), being far more interested in mercantile pursuits than more traditional noble pastimes -- he is in essence a banker and accountant. His health is known to be less than perfect, and he has commercial affairs in the west of Bowcourt, so it seems unlikely that the Marquessa expects his appointment to be long-term. Opinions differ as to why the Marquessa chose him, but it seems probable that he's there to give the Foxcourt "books" a good going-over. Further reinforcing the probability of a short term Lieutenancy, it is known that the Count of Chagny (the Marquessa's powerful vassal who holds much of southern and south-western Bowcourt) prefers that the Marquessa appoint a replacement swiftly, and, as reported "restore the delicate balance between vassals and liege", although cynics suggest that the Marquessa gaining direct control of Foxcourt lands are a greater concern than the philosophy of feudalism. The Marquessa in turn has been heard to mutter something about perhaps having too many Counts. --- Any players with PCs who want to be involved in the goings-on should let me know. Two finer young folk cound not be found. I look forward to the celebrations, hopefully sans Justines elder half brother. Dramus -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-pub-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |

It is mentioned in the Gazetteer and I have copied its details into the Wiki, but what/where is it? Does anyone know or remember? Or should we put it down to the delusion of drug taking scribes? http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Anticasala Cheers, Stephen. -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |
