Adventures going out

Mistress Jessica Laudfoot. Needs a party of beginning adventurers to
travel around and do good deeds around Carzala.. The party aren't
being paid but will have free healing, however pillage and looting
from bad guys is okay. Jessica is also accepting donations from other
Guild members to help the poor. Noel, any night, location:tba.

Viola. Is part of a library research group on a walking tour. Wants
people for rigorous and flexible debate. Ben, Medium/dark, Wednesday.

Brian DeValente. Wants a party to help them defend their village of
Dottery from the forces of the Dark Circle. May be some assistance
south of Carzala and there may also be Unseele Court involvement with
Rashak. The adventure is being bankrolled by his sister, a Guild
adventurer. Keith, Medium, Fridays, Mangere Bridge

Killarandram Gillgiver (Drum) - Is questing and needs to rid a small
plane of a problem. A bunch of dragon hunters are causing a
population problem among the dragons and the dragons want them
removed.. Helen, Medium/high, Tuesday.

Awards

Smartest
Vychan - He had a plan so subtle that even Isil'Eth could not
understand it. It had to do with swapping Sier's soul around and into an imp.

Clementine - The party were in a pub in Sanctuary when they were
attacked by an assassin. A distraction was required so Ithilmor
created moonlight - which caused all the shapechangers in the area to
change shape. Clementine had the wit to call out "Come to the circus"
thus avoiding a scene.

Tussock - Cher wanted a sword but doesn't use one. Somehow Tussock
realised that Cher was possessed and stopped Cher getting it.

Braegon - Sending everyone off to certain death as a diversion while
creating an escape route

Winner - Vychan

Bravest
Gavenshill - The party was horribly threatened by some lethal goo and
some was falling on the area. He delayed escaping the area effect to
use a neutralising agent in the area first.

Peter Smith - They were in the Dark Circle fighting undead. Victoria
was down, bleeding, and being drained. Even though he was being
attacked himself, Peter ignored his attacker and managed to drag
Victoria clear before being killed. At the moment he cannot be raised
until King Sigismund returns.

Mary M - Stood staunch while holding the Standard of St Jeremiah, and
being the target of undead attacks, even though she was quaking in
her little hobbit boots.

Winner - Peter Smith

Stupidest
Morgan - While Douglas was dealing to Cher's possession via the party
mind link, Morgan offered Cher a thought blocking penny, knowingly
getting in the way of fixing the problem.

Neroli - Is an air mage and spent a lot of time flying on the other
air mage's fly spells. Three times attempted a fancy landing, instead
of using featherfall, and three times went 'splat', necessitating
emergency healing.

Sam the Ork - After Griselda had lifted the king rat out of the black
goop that was possessing it, Sam dispelled the Hands of Earth that
were helping to hold it up.

Hamish - attempted to survive a 3,000ft drop by being wrapped in a
hammock while the rest of the party were rapidly flying off.

Winner - Neroli

Best Death
Father Broc - Died while defending a dragon from Rashak's forces.

Peter Smith - Died valiantly and heroically, saving Victoria

Boulder - When the assassin went for him, he leapt through the window
and took to the air, taking the halfling assassin with him. The
assassin wriggled around and stabbed Boulder, killing him, which
cancelled the flight spell. Both of them fell to the ground, killing
the assassin as well.

Ben - Was dragonflamed by the party while being attacked by spiders.

Winner - Boulder

Other Business

A vote of thanks was given to Ptolemy for being our envoy to Tac, and
he was confirmed in the position.

Thanks and a welcome back was given to Sabrina

Engalton is asking for assistance in the fight against the Dark Circle.

Scribe note award to go to Martin for the Battle of Calston's Switch.

Hi,
Some questions for you to take into account ...

i) Is there any evidence that roleplayers watch Triangle TV?

ii) do we want / can absorb a group of new players all at once (currently
new players trickle in)

iii) We would need to get interested people into a game quickly. If
someone enquires and is told to come back in 2 months for the Guild
meeting, they are likely to lose interest or forget.

iv) DQ runs extremely slowly, if not glacially, compared to other
roleplaying games. This is not a problem when new players are introduced
by friends, but often complete strangers give up after a few weeks. I
think it is the social interaction that keeps folk coming back, until they
get hooked.
Is it OK to have a busy season with lots of new folk to mentor, then have
most of them trickle away again? This seemed to be the pattern when we
did active recruiting at the University induction week.

Regards,
Rosemary

What Rosemary said and more.

If we did get a big influx the whole organization would have to be draughted
to deal with numbers either as GMs or player mentors. It should be timed to
go with a rule book reprint, and other organizational night mares

Will the disruption be worth the effot, and how many players and GMs would
disappear for a couple of seasons so as not to get draughted.

I think this is something to look at as an aid to a recuiting type
convention rather than for a straight guild meeting, at least then we would
have weeded out most of the less committed.

Helen

Subject: Re: [dq] DQ and Tri TV

Hi,
Some questions for you to take into account ...

i) Is there any evidence that roleplayers watch Triangle TV?

ii) do we want / can absorb a group of new players all at once (currently
new players trickle in)

iii) We would need to get interested people into a game quickly. If someone
enquires and is told to come back in 2 months for the Guild meeting, they
are likely to lose interest or forget.

iv) DQ runs extremely slowly, if not glacially, compared to other
roleplaying games. This is not a problem when new players are introduced by
friends, but often complete strangers give up after a few weeks. I think it
is the social interaction that keeps folk coming back, until they get
hooked.
Is it OK to have a busy season with lots of new folk to mentor, then have
most of them trickle away again? This seemed to be the pattern when we did
active recruiting at the University induction week.

Regards,
Rosemary

Is there any evidence that anyone watches triangle TV? I wouldn't be
too worried abut the consequences of any such coverage.

Hey guys just a couple of questions.

1> I am just wondering why the Necro Create golem
spell has such a long cast time compared with the
other golem spells?

2> could someone post somewhere either here or on the
wiki what the current play test rules are for things
i.e. Chain weapons, Pole weapons etc. Just so I have
some clarification in case we get a chance to use
them.

Zane

The proposed changes are on the wiki here:

http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Proposed_Rule_Changes

They are yet to be updated with the results of the voting but those are in
the minutes Keith sent out.
