I don't think we want to have stuff 'age' in a system as it would become to
hard - I think let it be a general guide to the GM.

> Faction should make clear the location, or it may be worth a separate
column to make it easier for a GM to scan a PC's record for entries of
interest to the current session.

With some groups / organisations I think it is of value to not have a
location but instead for the generic group, and again GMs can use it as a
guide.

In general

I see the moveable relationships between PC & NPC simply between different
games as being one of the more important aspects of role-playing.

I think this system is low over-head, and easy to use.

This system could create expectations for the player to work towards some
stronger form of relationship between their PC and a group of NPCs

I see it as a tool that GMs could use to help 'blend' character storylines
together.

I see this (or similar) system as an important part of supporting cross-GM
NPCs within Games.

What do others think?

Game date is important too, as status will tend to neutral over time.
Faction should make clear the location, or it may be worth a separate column
to make it easier for a GM to scan a PC's record for entries of interest to
the current session.

I think a A4 sheet per character should do OK. If a PCs records go to more
than two sides, then the balances from the oldest sheets can be transferred
to the latest one. It will just take one player to wave their sheet under
the GM's nose on the final night to trigger a quick update of everyone's
(I'm imagining the players scribbling and the GM signing).

GMs need guidelines for points, costs etc of course - should fit on around
half a page I would think.

This could be extended to a ranking for the Guild with major
factions/polities, which tends to happen in a less structured way currently
in any case, so possibly not worth the bother.

Cheers
Errol

Hi all,

I am looking for Dwarven Lands and Strongholds to add to the wiki.

Please see;

http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Map_of_Dwarven_Lands

We have 13 areas already recorded can you please post (don't email me) as
others may have differing ideas on the same stronghold etc and getting them
clear would be good.

Also if you know of any line the shire - starting land for Halflings other
than Gracht, and Ajepbar that would also be useful, so I can add it to the
Halfling map.

I don't think we want to have stuff 'age' in a system as it would become to
hard - I think let it be a general guide to the GM.

Agreed, but any time a faction's value is changed or reffered to, the GM
should consider if significantly older items are still having an effect. A
favour for the guard captain 5 years ago will have little impact, espacially
if the GM decides that a different gent is in charge now.

> Faction should make clear the location, or it may be worth a separate
column to make it easier for a GM to scan a PC's record for entries of
interest to the current session.

With some groups / organisations I think it is of value to not have a
location but instead for the generic group, and again GMs can use it as a
guide.

Certainly, some factions have a wide geographic reach, or the relationship
is with an individual that might just turn out to be e.g. leading the group
of church knights you are asking to cover your entry to the DC.

Cheers

Errol

A date also gives a 'use it or loose it' signal, that may be good for some, and bad for others. i do not see it as 'bad'.

Overall, like the death question I don't see how additional discussion
will help here.

Jono and other GM's can simply hand these chits out on their games, if
players and other GM's see the benefits it will take of and become
something we do as a treasure item, if not then it dies a quiet and
unpopular death.

I think it is a good idea and am more than happy to hand out such chits,
including retroactive ones to players who have been in the area's I GM.

Time limits and other factors can simply be added as notes to the basic
chit and you could do anything with it.

Yes a date field can be of value.

Please see attached - Character Faction Form as a proto-type.

I don't think we want to have stuff 'age' in a system as it would become to
hard - I think let it be a general guide to the GM.

Agreed, but any time a faction's value is changed or reffered to, the GM
should consider if significantly older items are still having an effect. A
favour for the guard captain5 years ago will have little impact, espacially
if the GM decides that a different gent is in charge now.

> Faction should make clear the location, or it may be worth a separate

interest to the current session.

Cheers

Errol

From my time playing and GMing -

I have never heard of any areas politically controlled by halflings in the
Baronies or Western Kingdom. There are any number of individual villages
scattered throughout and a few places have a significant halfling minority
eg
Mittlemarkhauptstadt (city in Midheim)***
Innesburg (city in northern Aquila)
Elfenburg (small barony in the mountains)
Crystal Springs (town in Cazarla)

In the barony of Gracht the majority of the population are halflings but
the Baron (Graf) is human - however it is is a very small place (maybe
2000 halflings and 500 humans)

Outside of this area I have come across two large communities of
halflings: Bretland (Bretania?) - Gm Michael Parkinson; and Empire of the
Sun in southern Terranova - GM Martin Dickson
These two places are large countries ruled by halflings

*** MMHS
On you Wiki Map you show Mittlemarkhauptstadt as part of the Western
Kingdom - it's not. It is the capital city of Midheim, an an independant
'country' about half the size of Cazala (but as rich). It doesn't
normally align itself with the Western Kingdom politically. GM - Michael
Parkinson (but used by lots of GM's)
Innesburg is nearby but is part of Aquila (the scale of the maps means
their names have often been linked : - )

Regards,
Rosemary

Midheim (previous, unoffical, but oft used title for the "Country" ruled by
the Grafs of MittelMarkHauptStadt) is now the Marquisate of Middlemarch
(according to Michael).
