There have been a number of rule changes voted though in the last year as well as corrections and clarifications. If it was just one or two a errors being fixed an addendum would be ok, but there are several rules changes waiting on the new rule book so they can come into effect. Im all for aiming at March. I doult we will get Rune ready in time, but Theif might be. Where as if we wait until June it seems to me all we need is one little snag and it will be a 2007 rule book. Hi All, As I read the rules on Queueing effects I think it has some problems. If I as GM give out a Magical Kite shield that is +12 defense what happens? I would have expected it to be normal Kite Shield +12 Def + magic defense spell. As the Queueing rules affect items this is not the case. The item gives defense as does the Defense spell so they do not stack. So I as a GM need to give out a shield that offers; Kite Shield Def + 54% defense (not stack with defense spells), and suddenly they have a rank 20 defense spell working all the time – blahh I didn’t want to give out a shield that was a kite shield + rank 20 defense spell + bonus defense, but unless I do their cant be magically inhanced shields... Some great work and an extremely commendible spirit of sharing has gone into this guys, and I feel that novice GM's (and lazy ones like myself) will benefit geatly from following the format, style, or embracing outright theft :) Thank you, Jono and William! ben PS. Excitingly, the adobe spell-checker is creating entirely new dangers for us as well, adultering the Treasure List with glories like a potion that "Curses syntactic poisons up to rank 9". By default, we generally don't want magic items and spells stacking. If you DO want to give out stackable items (and I believe stackable defence was one of the reasons that stacking was tightened), then say "This item stacks with other defence magic" and double the valuation. PCs, except your stackable defence items to be "ablated" The only exception is that amulets seem to be stackable by default. Then it will go poorly for them with their none-stackable 4% defence spell, as they can not cast a rank 20 defence spell on themselves. I was intending the Rulebook to be issued at the March meeting. Getting Thief approved for the Rules at the December meeting seems very unlikely, as we haven't even seen a revised version (which would need playtesting). The simple corrections can be done without reference to a God's meeting. For the inconsistencies, some kind of editorial committee is probably best. All this is assuming that people with the right skills and software to update the master version kindly make themselves available. LaTex editor and skills, and LaTex to PDF converters. I have asked if James wants to do it again. But whoever is doing the actual edit, I think we should collectively take responsibility to specify the exact changes by section of the rulebook on the Wiki where we can all see it. That way whoever ends up updating the rulebook should not need to make judgement calls or descisions which may not have group agreement/approval. Once we are all happy with the exact wording of the changes to be applied, then they can be applied and a proof copy produced. This may seem like doing the work twice but I think it is the best way to give clarity to the process and allow everyone (who wants to be) to be involved. Cheers, Stephen. It stores files in its own file format, but is very close to Latex, having export-to-latex and import-from-latex functions. (I don't know how well the import works, as I haven't used it.) You can always insert raw LaTeX code if it doesn't know how to do what you want it to do. It also has export-to-PDF. I'm on a Linux system - I don't know how hard it is to set up under Windows. Avoid TeXmacs. Even to an Emacs fan like me, it is an abomination that will drain all of your sanity points. -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |
