This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0019_01C5DBA4.4BD29AA0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi all, I would like to move forward with the idea of NPC Factions for characters usable in a multi-GM way. Most people think it is good to have a system where the GM at game time is quickly and easily able to see a report on a relationship between the character and a Group of NPCs or notable Individual. I want to move the idea to a point where it can be tested in a couple of games - with the aim of getting it ratified and eventually adopted as a standard system like the EP ranking books. How do I move this forward at this point? Since the word "diameter" is used that implies "a hexagon drawn inside a circle 5 foot in diameter" since a hexagon does not have a diameter and a circle does. Thus, it appears they meant 5 foot between opposite points. Jacqui -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |

Or a hexagon with a 5 foot diameter circle inscribed within it, giving 5 foot between parallel sides. Or my favourite, a hexagon with an area equivalent to a 5 foot diameter circle. If you accept that the length of a foot depends on your orientation, then a 5 foot hexagon can be a 5 foot circle. This is the convention that we accept on hex grids. Fortunately, it doesn't matter except for converting area effect spells to hexes. I use 1 hex = 20 or 25 square feet depending on the shape I'm going to end up with and whichever creates a nicer dramatic necessity for the party to respond to. Maths, like everything else, should be calculated with BDE in mind. I calculate 16.24 sq feet for 5-feet-between-corners (hex within 5' circle) and 21.65 sq feet for 5-feet-between-edges (hex around 5' circle) and 19.63 for a 5-foot diameter circle. -- to unsubscribe notify mailto:dq-request@dq.sf.org.nz -- |
