I would like the factions proposal to move to playtest so we can see how
well it works and what changes may be needed to make it a regular part
of our DQ campaign.

It's different from normal in that it is mainly about the interactions
between different GM's games, and involves actions over many seasons. I also
expect that the opportunity for an individual PC to interact with a faction
that they have an existing relationship with to be occasional at most (but I
could be wrong).

Having several parties this season and next discuss what relationships have
changed for them (note that 'we thought about it and decided "none" is
useful info) and send the results to Jono should help work out the volume of
changes involved.

Players sitting down and noting the relationships they think they have
currently (and how they got there) is useful (doing this in my head while
driving in this morning raised a couple of points to discuss with Jono).
Ditto for GMs and what they would (or have) given out.

Cheers
Errol

Can I suggest that this is trialed in a couple of games so that we get a
sense of how it is going to work - any bugs can be worked out in the
reflection process after trialing.

I think that is the normal process - isn't it??

Subject: [dq] NPC Factions

Hi all,

I would like to move forward with the idea of NPC Factions for characters
usable in a multi-GM way.

Most people think it is good to have a system where the GM at game time is
quickly and easily able to see a report on a relationship between the
character and a Group of NPCs or notable Individual.

I want to move the idea to a point where it can be tested in a couple of
games - with the aim of getting it ratified and eventually adopted as a
standard system like the EP ranking books.

How do I move this forward at this point?

Regards

Jonathan Bean

There are a couple of problems with putting this into playtest...not
problems with the idea itself but....

1. GM's need to be playing in shared locations. Most of us don't, we
carve out our own small niches and avoid impinging on other GM's areas.
In order to encourage more of this there needs to be enough information
out there that people feel comfortable using other peoples creations.

2. We then need to have detailed factions, Jono and William appear to be
working on these at the moment but we don't have them now.

I really think it is a good idea but I don't think it's time is now. I
think we need to work more to create a shared world rather than a
fragmented world and from there we can add in these kinds of effects but
the detailing and world-sharing needs to be there first.

I think the next step in pushing this forward is for GM's to start
collaborating more and using the resources of the Wiki and the Phone to
start sharing information.

Once we have more regularly used area's we can then start detail the
factions in that area and start to use Jono's system or a variant of it.
