As my initial E-mail on this has apparently been eaten in the deluge of posts, I'll restate what I said early on here.

  Given that the ArchAngels, are well, called ArchAngels in game all of the time, changing what type of creature they are defined as(which is where this discussion came from) will have no in game effect for conotations.

  However, what it will effect is rules in this case. The definition of the ArchAngels as 'demon' type creatures, as well as their minions mean the Wiccan amulets work equally well against the powers of light or the powers of darkness, along with any funky weapons out there written to be effective against demons as well as any other abilities. To me this makes perfect sense that Wiccan amulets function against all the powers, and to change this would give an undue bias to the equation also.

  Changing the wording of what sort of creature they are behind the common terms people call them will result in a change to the functions of the game, and if people do want that change, this must be considered and discussed also.

  Changing the common usage terms, well, I'm perfectly happy with the current descriptions, though agree some more detail availible would be excellent, but changing common usage terms needs to be seperated from changing game terms that have effects linked to them.

  Bernard.

Subject[dq] new terms for the Herd
From
DateThu, 1 Dec 2005 8:47:32 +1300
following extensive consultation, we have determined the following nouns to be most useful, and the wiki will be adjusted immediately to give effect to these:

the Church => the Herd
a church => a stable
an archangel => a horse
an angle => a pony
a priest => a groom
a bishop => an equiry
the sacriments => hay
vestments => silks
ceremony => trots

for example, the Herd of teh One Horned God will worship in a stable, with the groom wearing silks and leading the trots. Eric may be considered a 'stallion' and the members of the Herd are the 'mares'.

BTW - On further investigation it appears that Lysander, contrary to popular opinion, is not a pony. she does have some similarities to a pony. suggestions that this starts and stops near teh tail are rude.

Disagree -- and I'm the cause of the original confusion.

To clarify: the original Powers doc used the term "demon" for the generic
type of bot the PoL and PoD. The PoD were tehn described as "Demons" -- th=
e
only difference being capitalization. This was an error. There is nothing
in the original DQ rules to suggest that (then) Black Mage amulets protecte=
d
against the PoL. Nothing was described about the PoL (other than their
opposition to magic), and there was certainly nothing to suggest that they
were in any way demonic, or that demonic wards would function against them.

The intended use of the generic term would have been much better served by
daemon (or as Jaqui has suggested, daimon), and looking through my Powers
docs last night, the never-published "Adventurer" version of the Powers doc
used "daemon".

Cheers,
Martin

Subject[dq] Rune Mages
FromJonathan Bean - TME
DateThu, 1 Dec 2005 13:14:23 -0800
Hi All,

I would like to get the hold that is on the Rune Mage college removed. I
think we can allow players to start generating new Rune Mage Charaters for
play.

I know people are working on teh Rune Mage college but I dont think we
should have teh college on hold for as long as we have had, so I would like
it to be opened again under the current version with the note added to the
front saying that the College is currently being worked on and will change
sometime in the future. This will warn players while allowing them to enjoy
playing a Rune Mage

I would like to add this to the agenda for voting on at the December 2005
Gods/Guild meeting.

Kind regards,

Jonathan Bean

Subject[dq-pub] News from the Northern Front
FromChris Caulfield
DateThu, 01 Dec 2005 00:46:12 +0000
Horns blow in Seagate and the following announcement is made.

A huge victory for the Western Kingdom and the path north is open once more.

The valiant Western Kingdom 2nd Army in the Southern Ranke Salient has been
fighting a number of fierce battles since the early days of Seedtime 805 in
an attempt to reopen the overland route linking Carzala to the rest of the
Western Kingdom.

Ten days and nights of continual battles across the 20 mile front saw the
Western Kingdoms 2nd Army broke through the Dark Circles lines in the north
and destroyed nearly a third in a single assault on the morning of the 16th
of Seedtime.

Bishop Trugood was leading a counter-charge (to relieve pressure on the
Zumalar Halberdiers Regiment) in the area of Hudson’s valley with cavalry
from the Archbishop’s Mitre Brigade when the enemy seemed to falter in their
resolve after many weeks of evil magic’s, vile undead and stiff resistance
to the church forces.

Bishop Trugood who is renowned for his ‘sparing of the rod when there is a
good length of steel available’ approach to evil took the opportunity and
called up the reserves from the Lisbroun, Oppenbach and Klugenfurt Regiments
and charged into the disarrayed Dark Circle lines with great glee and sheer
abandonment in the cause of Uriel.

The Mitre Brigade’s charge broke through and once the Lisbroun ‘Shield
Breaker’ Heavy Cavalry (led by General Mac Niel of Unsreimer) and the
Klugenfurt ‘Stone Spears’ Regiment (led by Marshall Alex Metternich of
Walantoun) joined forces they continued on through to the northern command
area where a lot of the Undead seemed to be milling around until they were
destroyed by the combined forces of the 2nd Army and the Unified Western
Church. The cavalry then wheeled away from the destruction of the command
area and back into the rear of the enemy southern front lines which they
took by surprise and practically destroyed. The famous ‘Red Lancers’ of
the Oppenbach Regiment (led by General Montague of Ostow) followed the
cavalry as a second wave and completed the mopping up of the command area
and then attacked the rear of the enemy northern front lines and completed
their destruction.

The enemy withdrew back to the Hilston Vale and fortified that area against
further WK attacks. The WK forces rejoiced in the knowledge that as of the
18th of Seedtime, the road to the north is again open to travel with the 2nd
Army / Unified Western Church forces from the north and the 3rd Carzalan
Brigade from the south joining forces to push the enemy eastwards.

The 2nd Army forces have proven their mettle in these battles and will
continue mopping up further pockets while more forces pass by road down to
Carzala to relieve the valiant units in and around Seagate.

“Let all remember and offer thanks to those brave few who gave their all and
succeeded against the darkness”.
