Priority things that I would like people to help out with are listed at
http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Rulebook2006_To_Do_List
Rune Warning
Stream of Corruption Reword
check asterisks on Weather Scale Table
New Languages
Thank you to those working on stuff.
A couple of small things I would like comment on:
Conception chances:
These seem out of place in Character Gen, as they are very rarely applied to
PCs, and only rarely to NPCs. The sentence giving guidance on frequency to
roll is also in a different sub-section from the %ages.
I think that the %ages and frequency should be in this rulebook because they
provide useful guidance and if we move them to other documents, we shouldn't
delete from the rulebook until updated versions other the other docs are
distributed.
Best place to put them (as someone suggested on this list) looks to be in
Section 5 Health and Fitness.
I thought take the 'Base Conception Rate' lines out of Char Gen 2.2 and 2.3,
and add a new sub-section '5.8 Conception' after 5.7 Infection.
Any other suggestions?
Lockpicks:
These don't appear to be on the standard price-list, or mentioned anywhere
other than the Thief (and new Spy) skill*. This presumably has caused an
occasional minor pause while a GM decides what is reasonable on the fly.
I think we should give an indication of at least the size and weight of
these, as they potentially stuff up mages, and if the Watch find some on you
you tend to get asked awkward questions.
So what are appropriate tools for picking locks in our era?
A few ounces of cold iron? (slip under "Several ounces of Cold Iron is
required to cut off the mana flow.")
Several ounces of bronze? (is the softer metal an issue?)
*A thief can pick locks or open safes with the aid of tools.
12. Pick Locks: while using appropriate tools, a spy can spend (240-20 x
Rank) seconds to attempt to pick a lock to either unlock or lock it.
Alternative Tables (and other rules):
I was going to add a general comment about GMs using alternative rules etc
(to replace the comment currently in 7.7 Backfire re the Backfire Table, and
the note for the Spec Grev table that is pending).
However our Rulebook no introduction of any kind, and nowhere obvious to put
such a comment. Shall we just drop the comments from the Rulebook, and add
comments elsewhere (Wiki, GM Guide, Players Guide) to state what has always
been the case in our campaign - GMs can and do modify what is in the
Rulebook, especially the 'result' tables. GMs should of course mention any
changes to the players at the appropriate time (generally before play
starts).
Thoughts?
Cheers
Errol
