Subject[dq] Rank 8+ Armour and Weapon Smith NPCs
FromJonathan Bean - TME
DateThu, 8 Jun 2006 10:13:52 +1200
Hi all,

Does any GM have/run any high ranked (8+) Armour and/or Weapon Smiths (NPCs)
that is known to the Guild?

If so who, where and any other details would be good. I do not want to
re-invent the wheel.

Kind regards,

10 or so years ago it was decided that the guild would have a Rk 8 Armourer and Weaponsmith but
that access would be limited. And there would be no Rk 9 or 10 available except through in game
contacts picked up on adventure or skilled player characters.
Rk 7 and below were readily available but any player that wanted access to Rk 8 would have to
contact Greg Graydon who would 'play' the smith and dole out his time.

I can't remeber but I suspect a persona for the smith was created, Greg may know the details if
nobody else does.

It is reasonably well known that Hagen is a Rk 10 Armourer, I don't think that there are any PC Rk
10 Weaponsmiths. Flamis is 8 or 9.

Cheers, Stephen.

Flamis is rank 8... having run out of bright ideas for Weaponsmithing
masterworks.... Drum also has high ranks.

I'll be getting the printing done tomorrow, so put your orders in by tonight
please.
If anyone wants to pay me electronically, send me an e-mail and I will give
you my details.

Note that there are a large number of changes, in many locations, and I
recommend getting a new rulebook (by some means).

I will have my laptop available at the Guild Meeting to copy the rulebook
PDF (and anything else that I have around, like the GM Guide) to USB drive
or CD. It will also be available via the Wiki. I'm doing a check of last
night's 'Final' version that Struan and I made this evening, so it should be
there tomorrow.
I'll also have a page to note issues, as well as a change summary.

Cheers
Errol

Subject[dq-announce] Guild Meeting This Sunday
FromStephen Martin
DateThu, 8 Jun 2006 11:36:36 +1200 (NZST)
The guild meeting is this Sunday 12:30/1pm at Western Springs garden hall (same place as last time).

There are no voting/agenda issues that I am aware of. Check the minutes for changes to that over
the next couple of days.
http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Guild_Meeting_June_2006

There are 5 adventures that I know about, we will probably need 2 more.

We are trialing something new over the next couple of sessions, a wiki page for players to list
the character they would like to play this session.
http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Adventure_Wanted_June_2006
is the page for this guild meeting/session.

See you all on Sunday.

Cheers, Stephen.

SubjectRe: [dq] Rank 8+ Armour and Weapon Smith NPCs
FromMichael Parkinson
DateThu, 8 Jun 2006 11:57:46 +1200
PC: Rank-10 ARMOUR is possible ... but only Cloth, Leather, Scale, Chain
mail, Dragon-skin, Mithril. And you have to provide your own
Dragon-skin or Mithril.

Hagan happy to make armour for most guild-members, esp. the female ones,
especially clients with whom a previously established a professional
relationship exists. Form-fitting or flattering armour is a speciality
("Do you want tassels with that?"), despite the lengthy fitting sessions
required.
Those guild-members Hagan is NOT happy to work for can often persuade
him to do it anyway. Let's face it ... if your horses wants comfortable
barding, they're usually quite capable of persuading Hagan to make it

Hagan's ALSO rank 10 WEAPONSMITH, since Winter 805, but is *very* loathe
to make commissioned weapons, really, preferring to make (mostly)
non-lethal traps & restraints for Hobbits. So far, the ONLY weapons he
has made for PC has been on adventure, part-time, to while away the
boring times. This is most unlikely to change ... although I may be
marketing a range specialist bolts/arrows (including fillable
glass-tipped)

=========NPCs: The Serene Republic of Destiny is generally happy to make
commissioned Rank 10 weapons (or Rank-11 in the case of swords) for
Guild-members of good standing ... but it takes time, unless you have
influence, and the *obligatory* true-silver or gold damascening is not
cheap.

regards, Michael

Drum has master ranks in both Armourer and Weaponsmith, but I'm fairly
certain he it's only Armourer he is rank 10 in.
