Thank you for posting the Item in question.
My Memory wasn't that good and it's better to look a the facts rather
than rely on senility.
I had thought you could get about 7 times the Myrrh out.

So my maths comes up with for one session continuously (90 days):
134 items:
Over 8 Ounces Black Myrrh = 1,675 sp.
Or
Pearls worth 200sp each = 26,800 sp.

Using Andrews maths for ROI this would give it a value of:
33,500 sp for the Myrrh option.
536,000 sp for the Pearls
(ignoring the anti-sap ability - I presume it is extra full bodied with
"bounce")
Instead of 2,500 sp
Opps.

We all know that many mages consider that reaching up into a wig three
times per day "labour" it doesn't stop you training or adventuring.

Actually my original assumption that the Myrrh was to be used as perfume
(to go to all the court functions) still seems to make more sense and
the pearl could be used to provide some instant spending cash or a
reward to some flunky (A lady can't be expected to keep track of the
worth of such things).

I would tend to make a rather brutal change to this item by adding the
line:

"Items with a combined intrinsic value of no more than 500sp per season
may be produced from this wig."

I know that that still puts the value up under the ROI calculation but
will cover a huge range of extremities.
And it still furfills the purpose of the item to assist a Lady (Sera?)
at court and protect her head from bumps.

Regards
Phil

Not quite what I ment. I was suggesting that by providing a proportion
of
the materials myself I would get a discount.

For your curiousities satisfaction;

Wistria's Wig

This is a powdered, stacked high court ladies wig. If it is worn there
is a
(hours worn x 5) percent chance that the lady can find one of the
following
items in it;

A mouse
A nip of brandy
A 3' long ribbon
A horseshoe
A nasty hairpin (dagger stats)
A pouch of snuff
A peice of furit
A cameo button
A pearl worth 200sp
A wraped truffle
A dove
An ace of Hearts (that matches any deck the wearer is using)
A 3' long gold thread
A powderpuff
A pinch of black myrrh (need 16 to make a greater enchantment) An
invertation to the next court function (any normal court) An exotic
flower A small silver mirror A lacy handkerchief A lipstick

The lady must state what she is looking for and she can look for
something
once every five hours.
Incidently, the wig totally protects the wearer from being sapped. It is
impossible to sleep in the wig.

Cost 2500sp
Anna Curise

The way I look at it waring the wig for 15 hours I make three attempts
per
day First at 25% then 50% and finally 100% chance of getting what i ask
for.

So over a 3 month period takng averages

90 attempts at 25 = (1 in 4 chance of success) = 22 pinches
90 at 50 (1in2) = 45
90 at 100 = 90
so after 3 months I have 157 pinches which = 9 and a bit ounces which I
then
use to defray some of the cost of my next greater, I spose I could just
sell
it or the pearl for the same effect I certainly didn't mean to imply I
would
be getting something for nothing. There is the mages labour and time for

example and even a mid rank greater on 2 aspects requires about 6 months
of
myrrh prodution.

As for the game I'm am quite happy to have forgotten items GMs don't
want
used and given the level of the party it proberly makes sense to for go
a
greater this session so as not to unbalance the party.

On a personal note yeah I figure anna left off a zero but when I asked
she
stood by her evaluaton can't remember the reasons as it was 4 or 5 games

back.

TTFN
Michael

PS all I asked for was a immune to being sapped item LOL

The effect on the game as a whole of one player avoiding the cost of an
enchantment is pretty minor.

If you don't want the entire player population getting free enchantments, don't
hand them out. But, I doubt that the game is going to roll to a stop simply
because one player has such an item.

And, remember, it is just an item. They can be destroyed or stolen or in other
ways removed from the game. If, as a DM, you believe that the item is
unbalanced, get rid of it within the constraints of suspension of disbelief. If
you can't be bothered, then it probably isn't a problem.

Jim.
