Hi All, I was in NZ in February, across from the UK. As Andrew Withy had previous ask to was use my character as an NPC in my game, and I was in the country, he and was kind enough to let me play for an evening. http://www.dragonquest.org.nz/dqwiki/index.php/Festival_of_the_Arts Andrew introduced my character the evening before I was due to play. The players attacked the character (Sabastian) on sight, beat him and imprisoned him in a stasis field. I believe they almost killing him when he was captured. Andrew pointed out to the players I was only going to be there for the one evening and hinted I could provide proof their employers were up to something. The players continued with their actions and, in Andrew words, "they turned all loyal to their employers (a first)." There are in-game mechanisms (the guild) to punish players that attack another character. I was stunned that players would prevent another player from participating, one that *the GM* was introducing to the game. Role playing is about having fun and you have a care of duty to other players to ensure they also have fun. What is the point roleplaying a genuinely unpleasant character? Wheres the fun in upsetting other players? Thats just nasty behaviour. It's a shame Chris wasn't there that night, since I'm sure he would not have let this happen. To Dean, Kelsie, Struan and Ian: Following guild rules, and think about how your playing impacts other people. You went out of your way to make sure I couldn't play, there is no justification for this – I don't care what your 'roleplaying' excuses were. I look forward to hearing what punishment was doled out on the characters. I am very disappointed by this incident, and would like to make others aware of this incident, in the hopes that it will avoid another like it.
