Unfortunately ... Lizette missed the ride. According to the posted
scribe notes, you were still with us on adventure on the 4th of
Vintage ... the healers left on the first.

3.11 Combat: Damage: Additional Damage is the relevant section.

The increased chance of weapon break was removed for the 2000 Edition of the Rules as part of
changes to the Fumble Tables.

Currently the only downside of using extra strength for damage is that you cannot use the extra
damage from skill.
I.e. If you are Rk4+ in a weapon you need 10PS over the minimum required to get a benefit and if
you are Rk8+ in a weapon you need 15PS over the minimum required to get a benefit.

A proposal to add a penalty back in was voted down at the December 2005 GMs Meeeting.

Simple summary of arguments for & against re-applying penalties:

For: There should be some penalty/trade-off to using high PS otherwise it will be done all the
time escalating damage done in melee. WoS SOS SoD all add to PS making it easy to get additional
damage.

Against: High AG/MD/EN are not penalised, they only provide benefits. It is penalising one
class/style of fighter to penalise (or offer no benefit for) high PS, a stat that should be
important to combat and should add to damage.

Cheers, Stephen.

Subject[dq-announce] Guild minutes - Winter 809
FromKeith Smith
DateMon, 15 Jun 2009 14:48:56 +1200
Seagate Adventurers Guild
Guild Meeting Minutes
Winter 809 WK

0) Campaign Notes
a) Lej(?) … gone … no forwarding address. Realm destroyed.
b) Slow portal broken
c) Current snow storms are a natural event.
The weather should be returning to more usual
patterns over the next couple of years. Control
Weather spells in the Seagate area are not
working, owing to a Rank 0 backfire. The storms
should subside a week after the Guild meeting
d) Celestials can see a Red Moon if they are
in the Carzala area. This could be an ill omen
but, at this time, it is unsure about what it means.
e) The elven civil war has been postponed owing to Winter.

1) Adventures Going Out
a) William – Man in plain clothing. Clerk
from the province of Ladlaugh. Looking for a
device and a folio. Especially wanting hobbits as
they’re good at finding things. 5000sp each + another 5000 if you’re a hobbit.
b) Scott R – A residence is to be cleaned
out. Not sure what sort of entity the squatters
are but may be undead or demonic.
c) Bernard – Man at Arms, reported that
there was trouble off-plane, a town who’s
inhabitants have vanished. Want an expert
troubleshooting team to investigate before anyone
else moves in. Pay is investments + 5000sp. Mondays, Low/Med.
d) Jono – Trial of the Hafted Weapons. A
party is required to retrieve a ship, crew, and
cargo. Last seen heading north towards the ice
floes. The cargo consists of southern spices. A
strong person, plus assistants, is required.

2) Awards
a) Smartest
i) Caprice – The party required a demonic
avatar to be in a particular place so he can be
dealt to and it had to be done in a way that he
would not suspect. Caprice studied up on his
girlfriend of 35,000 years ago enough to
impersonate her. She succeeded in luring him in then stabbing him.
ii) No vote

             Winner – Caprice

b) Bravest
No award

c) Stupidest
i) Lizette – For provoking an entity inside a slow portal
ii) Zanac – The party reached a waterhole where
bodies were thrown in. There was loot down there
so Zanac dived in to get it. The skeletons rose and attacked him underwater.
iii) MDK – Using antimagic arrows inside a magical portal.

             Winner – MDK

d) Best Death
No award

3) Star of Alusia
No nominations

4) Other business
New weapon rules, thief and elementals are still
in playtest and it is planned that they be voted
on next meeting. Please provide feedback.

Meeting closed.

Having high PS is also advantageous for pinning/restraining, which should
also help those covered with the appropriate oils and who like to get in
tight clinches. This might be something for Vapour to investigate further.

High strength = high carrying capacity = higher agility = more defence
and higher TMR. When you get strong enough you become and agility
fighter.

cheers,
